Save your smile with improved oral hygiene habits. Although you may be doing everything you can to keep your teeth and gums clean, small changes in your routine can lead to huge results. Even changing out your toothbrush regularly can impact your oral health. Because brushing your teeth is so important, work on what you can do to improve your skills.

Always make sure that you are using a toothbrush that is fully functional and serves its purpose. Look for toothbrushes that have soft bristles and full-size brush heads so you can accomplish a full clean of your mouth. Typically look for brushes and toothpaste that feature the ADA Seal of Acceptance. If a brush is not working, try switching to an electric toothbrush.

Be mindful of how and where you store your brush. Never share your brush with anyone or next to any other brush, as this can lead to contamination. Replace your brush every 3-4 months, and store it upright in a sturdy position. Make sure that it is in a well-ventilated area.

Make sure to take good care of your permanent teeth, as they could potentially last a lifetime.
